Lock Haven Acne Treatments

Testimonials

"My neck and chest looked pretty bad, due to repeated sun burns when I was younger. I went to BNG Aesthetics. Dr. and Natalie Gabinskiy did two photodynamic treatments on me and gave me creams to use. Now three months late my neck and chest look really nice. I'm very thankful to both of them."

Botox® Therapeutic - Excessive Sweating

Botox - Excessive Sweating - Lock Haven, PA

You are not alone if suffer from excessive perspiration. Millions of people exhibit symptoms of excessive sweating - including sweaty palms, hands, armpits, and feet. Excessive sweating is a medical condition known as hyperhidrosis. For those affected this condition is extremely debilitating with significant impairment in activities of daily living, social interaction, and occupational activities.

Perspiration or sweat is a natural way of body cooling itself during times of exercise and warm or hot surroundings. Sweating is regulated by the sympathetic nervous system. When you are nervous, anxious or afraid, there is an increase in sympathetic nerve activity in your body as well as an increase in epinephrine secretion from your adrenal gland. These substances act on your sweat glands, especially those on the palms of your hand and armpits, to make sweat. Naturally present skin bacteria break down the organic substances found on the skin producing body odor. The warmer and wetter the area, the more bacteria and underarm odor you will have.

If you experience underarm sweating resulting in stains on your favorite blouses, or you embarrassed by a sweaty palm and avoid shaking hands we can help. Now you can control excessive sweating with Botox®.

Excessive Sweating Treatment

Botox® works by blocking the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands, and reducing sweat production by glands. It is injected with a tiny needle just underneath the skin. Multiple injections are required to cover the entire area of involvement. Prior to injection a starch iodine test is done to delineate the active sweat glands. Topical anesthetics are used to minimize discomfort.

The results take effect within 2 weeks and last anywhere between 6 to 12 months, depending on the individual.

Side effects include bruising, mild discomfort and, rarely temporally weakness of intrinsic hand muscles. It does not cause muscle weakness when injected under the arms. You should not have Botox® if you suffer from neuromuscular disorder such as myasthenia gravis, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or taking medications that may interfere with neuromuscular transmission such as aminoglycosides or cyclosporine.
