dermal fillers, fat transfer
Facial volume loss generally starts when we are in our 20s, where we begin to lose our “baby fat”. As we grow older, we experience collagen breakdown, decrease production of elastin, redistribution and continuous loss of facial fat as well as resorption of facial bones. As the skin’s natural supports continue to break down, it results in a gradual loss of volume in the forehead, cheeks and lips. A hollowing around the eye sockets with sunken temples and flatten cheeks contributing to formation of nasolabial folds around the corner the nose and mouth. Oral commissures develop beneath the corner of the mouth. The skin loses the youthful elasticity, and appears drier, thinner and less vibrant.
Most traditional face lift procedures integrate lifting and tightening techniques and address soft-tissue descent due to atrophy and loss of skin elasticity. Unfortunately, these procedures are incapable of reversing the facial soft-tissue loss that occurs with aging. The most common methods of replacing lost volume are with dermal fillers or autologous fat grafting.
At BNG Aesthetics Skin & Laser Center we offer very effective, safe and relatively non-invasive techniques to greatly improve the cosmetic effects of volume loss. Injection of dermal fillers can effectively restore lost volume and improve the contour and shape of your face. Areas of the face that often benefit from rejuvenation using fillers are: cheeks, nasolabial folds, nasojugal folds, temples, marionette lines, tear trough, lips, hands and ear lobes. A non-surgical nose correction or chin augmentation is also achievable with fillers. We have perfected the following fillers:
- Juvederm Voluma®
- Juvederm® Ultra Plus
- Restylane® Lyft
Another alternative that we recommend is a facial fat grafting treatment. To restore the youthful appearance of aging face we use fat harvested from different part of the body, and injected into the face. Fat injections can give you a healthier glow, and restore and rejuvenate what added years have been taking away. Autologous fat transfer can help to restore lost volume in the temples, lift droopy eyebrows, fill sunken cheeks, revolumize and tighten a sagging jawline, and reshape the chin and prejowl area.
Facial fat grafting treatment is performed in our in-office procedure room. The process involves carefully taking some fat from the donor site you wish, maintaining its vitality, filtering it and injecting it into the areas that have lost volume. This minimally invasive procedure is performed under local anesthesia and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. You are able to go home immediately afterwards. The results of the fat transfer are long lasting and evident for many years. Although as you age you will continue to lose facial fat patients after fat grafting continue to have more facial volume than you would otherwise. If you are looking for a long-term solution for facial volume loss, autologous fat grafting may be right for you.
